Hello, world: meet TangentByte
Why we're building a studio of small, sharp tools, and what FeedKeeper, our first product, does.
TangentByte is a software studio and product collective. We build small tools that each do one job well, and we build them in the open.
Why “TangentByte”?
Look at the logo: a circle touched at exactly one point by a straight line. That's a tangent. The circle is split into eight segments, eight bits, which make one byte. The orange diamond sits where the two meet.
That's the idea behind the studio. Every product branches off in its own direction, but they all touch one shared core: the same standards for quality, privacy and craft. Each one ships under its own name, as “something by TangentByte”.
What we build
- Open-source foundations: developer libraries, command-line tools and AI model weights that anyone can use and build on.
- Consumer micro-apps: focused tools for everyday life, like distraction-blocking browser extensions, native macOS companions and media utilities.
- A sustainable model: free public packages, one-time licenses and fair freemium plans, so the tools stay maintained.
First up: FeedKeeper
FeedKeeper by TangentByte is a Chrome extension that keeps your YouTube feed on your terms. You pick the kinds of videos you don't want, such as comedy clips, pranks or drama, and AI quietly outlines, hides or marks them “Not interested” as they appear.
It's open source under the MIT license, has no server and no analytics, and your API key never leaves the extension. You can build it from source in three commands:
git clone https://github.com/Skynet843/feedkeeper.git
pnpm install
pnpm build
